Summary

Site Reliability Engineer in Bengaluru keeping eCommerce applications stable — resolving production incidents, joining on-call rotations, and automating monitoring and deployments. Core stack: Azure/GCP managed Kubernetes (AKS/GKE), GitHub Actions CI/CD, Terraform/Ansible, and observability with Dynatrace, Splunk, and Grafana.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a strong background in eCommerce, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and application reliability. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional product teams to ensure application stability, improve system performance, minimize production disruptions, and drive operational excellence through automation and proactive monitoring.

The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with cloud technologies and CI/CD pipelines, and an understanding of SRE principles, including Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and Error Budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional product teams to implement reliability engineering practices and improve application availability, stability, and performance.

  • Apply SRE best practices in alignment with organizational reliability standards and SRE governance frameworks.

  • Monitor, manage, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production incidents across supported applications and microservices.

  • Perform technical analysis, root cause analysis, code analysis, and log analysis to identify and resolve production issues.

  • Improve proactive monitoring and observability to detect potential issues early and prevent service disruptions.

  • Drive continuous improvement through housekeeping automation, preventive maintenance, and operational process enhancements.

  • Ensure environment stability, application reliability, and predictable production operations.

  • Automate repetitive operational and development processes using scripting, CI/CD workflows, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing and deployment workflows.

  • Monitor and report reliability metrics, delivery quality, and operational KPIs, identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Work with API-based eCommerce platforms and microservices architectures to maintain and improve application reliability.

  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide technical support for business-critical production incidents.

  • Follow ITIL-based support processes and use IT Service Management (ITSM) tools to manage incidents, problems, and service requests.

  • Collaborate across engineering and SRE teams to share best practices, improve operational processes, and strengthen reliability engineering capabilities.

  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, tools, and industry practices to recommend innovative solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, production support, IT operations, software development, or a combination of these areas.

  • Strong hands-on experience in eCommerce platforms and production environments.

  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, release management, and deployment automation.

  • Experience with API-based frameworks and headless eCommerce platforms; familiarity with commercetools or Fabric is an advantage.

  • Experience supporting, maintaining, or developing desktop and mobile applications.

  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API integrations, and solution architecture fundamentals.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Hands-on experience with managed Kubernetes services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.

  • Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language: Python, Ruby, Java, C#, or Go.

  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Splunk and Grafana.

  • Understanding of SRE metrics and practices, including SLIs, SLOs, Error Budgets, and service reliability measurement.

  • Experience with ITIL-based support processes and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify root causes of complex technical issues.

  • Understanding of application performance engineering and reliability optimization.

Good to Have

  • Familiarity with headless eCommerce technology stacks and composable commerce architectures.

  • Knowledge of front-end and application technologies such as ReactJS, React Native, and Node.js.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or other cloud-based DevOps platforms.

  • Knowledge of solution architecture, application design principles, and distributed systems.

  • Experience implementing advanced monitoring, alerting, and automated remediation solutions.

  • Familiarity with performance testing, capacity planning, and resilience engineering.

Key Competencies

  • Strong ownership of production reliability and service quality.

  • Proactive approach to identifying and preventing incidents.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering, product, and operations teams.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Continuous improvement mindset with an interest in emerging technologies and automation.

  • Willingness to participate in on-call support for business-critical applications.
