Skate Manager

The Skate Manager conducts daily operations and maintenance duties of the ice rink and skate shop areas. Operates the Zamboni, skate sharpener, and production machines. May be asked to open or close the facilities and to provide supervision to desk attendants and rink guards when the director and assistant directors are not present. Other duties associated with ice rink operations.

1. Operates the Zamboni, skate sharpener, and production machines.
2. Provide assistance in maintaining the ice during the season. This will include ice resurfacing, building the ice, and removing snow from the rink and the area around the rink, as needed.
3. Responsible for assisting in the opening and/or closing of the rink each day. The opening and closing responsibilities include, but are not limited to, arriving at the rink as early as 5:00 a.m. and managing the opening procedures, staying at the rink as late as midnight and managing the closing procedures. Shifts and hours will be in conjunction with director and assistant directors to ensure that all shifts are covered.
4. Assist in making sure all skates get sharpened in a timely manner.
5. Assist in jersey and hockey equipment needs.
6. Serve as a desk attendant or rink guard during operating hours if needed.
7. Assist in the seasonal setup and closedown of the rink.
8. Responsible for helping operate some of the rink events, such as the skating parties, New Years Eve, and the Skating Competition.
9. Other duties as assigned within the skate shop and ice rink operations and maintenance.
