General Purpose:
The Dispatcher is the main hub of communication across the mountain. Dispatcher logs and tracks Patrol missions, injuries, trail conditions, and other on-mountain communications.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Dispatcher duties include, but are not limited to:
- Receive and analyze incoming mountain calls, as well as non-emergent messages from other departments at Purgatory.
- Utilize computer aided dispatch computer system to input, retrieve, and maintain vital information
- Performing emergency medical dispatch when necessary
- Distribute calls for service via internal radio system
- Initiate incident reports of on mountain injuries and maintain history records
- Maintain radio log and recording
- Coordinate with outside organizations including, Durango 911 Dispatch, Montrose 911 Dispatch, Durango Fire Protection District (DFPD), La Plata County Search and Rescue (LPCSAR), San Juan Medical Rescue and SAR (SJMR), Flight for Life (FFL), and other regional utilized organizations.
- Monitor all Mountain channels and communicate data to Patrol staff and other mountain departments as needed.
