SkillBridge Program

Build Your Next Career After the Military

Your military experience has given you skills that can translate into a successful career in the skilled trades, building technology, project management, and construction.

Brooks Building Solutions' SkillBridge Program provides transitioning service members with foundational training in Building Automation Systems (BAS), commercial HVAC, and building technology while giving you the opportunity to explore where your skills and interests can take you next.

All SkillBridge participants begin with BAS training, where you'll learn the fundamentals of how commercial buildings operate and how systems such as HVAC, controls, sensors, and other building technologies work together.

As you progress through the program, you'll have the opportunity to explore different career paths based on your experience, strengths, interests, and long-term career goals.

Where Your Training Can Take You

Your SkillBridge experience can provide a foundation for a variety of career opportunities at Brooks, including:
  • Building Automation Technician – Install, troubleshoot, service, and maintain building automation and controls systems.
  • Building Automation Project Manager – Coordinate projects, schedules, resources, customers, and field teams.
  • Building Automation Estimator – Review project requirements and develop estimates, proposals, and budgets for BAS projects.
  • Low Voltage Installer – Install and support low-voltage wiring, controls, communications, and building technology systems.
  • And More – Additional opportunities may be available across our BAS, HVAC, construction, project management, estimating, and operations teams.
You don't have to know exactly which career path you want when you start. Our goal is to give you the foundational knowledge, hands-on experience, and exposure to different areas of the business so you can identify where your skills are the best fit.
As a SkillBridge participant, you will:
  • Learn the fundamentals of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and commercial HVAC.
  • Develop an understanding of how HVAC equipment, controls, sensors, and building systems work together.
  • Gain exposure to BAS installation, programming, troubleshooting, testing, and service.
  • Learn to interpret basic drawings, diagrams, system layouts, and technical documentation.
  • Develop an understanding of low-voltage systems and building technology.
  • Participate in hands-on training and real-world learning opportunities.
  • Work alongside experienced professionals and gain exposure to different roles within the industry.
  • Apply your existing military skills and experience to a commercial building environment.
  • Explore potential career paths based on your strengths, interests, and long-term goals.
  • Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices.
  • Build the technical and professional skills needed to transition successfully into a civilian career.
