Small Animal Boarded Oncologist

  • Provide comprehensive oncologic care, including diagnostics, staging, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
  • Perform cytologic evaluations, interpret diagnostic imaging, and develop individualized chemotherapy and rescue protocols.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide variety of oncologic conditions using evidence-based medicine and current treatment standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency, Radiology, and other specialty services to provide integrated, multidisciplinary patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognoses, and quality-of-life considerations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referring veterinarians throughout the region.
  • Offer palliative care guidance and end-of-life counseling when appropriate, ensuring compassionate support for patients and families.
  • Contribute to the continued development and growth of the oncology service, including protocols, referral relationships, and patient care initiatives.
  • Participate in case rounds, continuing education opportunities, mentorship activities, and hospital-wide clinical improvement programs.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records utilizing EzyVet and Smart Flow.

  • DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Board Certification in Oncology (ACVIM) or completion of an Oncology Residency with intent to pursue board certification.
  • Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in the State of New York.
  • Experience with diagnostic imaging interpretation, cytology, cancer staging, and chemotherapy protocol development.
  • Previous experience in a specialty referral setting.
  • Interest in expanding and developing oncology services.
  • New graduates completing an oncology residency are encouraged to apply.
