Assistant Project Manager coordinating day-to-day delivery of data centre and critical power construction projects across the UK and Europe, managing labour, materials, logistics, and documentation from the Braintree office.

Location: Braintree, Essex

Travel: UK & European project travel required

Sector: Data Centres / Critical Power / M&E

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a growing engineering contractor specialising in critical power and data centre projects across the UK and Europe.

They are looking for a Small Works / Assistant Project Manager to join their team in Braintree and support the delivery of multiple projects across the UK and Europe.

This would suit someone who already has experience within construction, M&E, electrical, data centres or project logistics and is looking to develop into a fully-fledged Project Manager.

You'll work closely with the Project Manager and Head of Site Services, taking responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of projects, labour, materials, plant, logistics and project documentation.

This isn't purely an office-based coordination role. You'll be involved in the actual delivery of projects and will regularly travel to sites in the UK and Europe.

What You'll Be Doing

Coordinating multiple projects across the UK and Europe

Managing labour requirements, mobilisation and demobilisation

Coordinating materials, plant and equipment across project sites

Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, agencies and site teams

Raising purchase orders and tracking procurement and deliveries

Maintaining project trackers, registers and compliance documentation

Coordinating inductions, training records and operative documentation

Producing project programmes, short-term look-aheads and progress reports

Preparing labour forecasts and supporting project resourcing

Supporting RAMS, H&S documentation and site compliance

Attending site visits, safety walks and project meetings when required

Tracking project costs, supplier invoices and commercial paperwork

Supporting monthly project and cost reporting

Resolving day-to-day site, logistics and delivery issues

Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders

You'll also gain exposure to cross-border logistics and project delivery across the UK, Nordics and Netherlands.

What We're Looking For

We're open-minded on background, but you'll ideally have experience within construction, engineering, M&E, electrical or data centre environments.

You could currently be working as a:

Assistant Project Manager

Junior Project Manager

Project Coordinator

Small Works Manager

Project Engineer

Logistics / Project Coordinator

Site Coordinator

You'll need to be organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple moving parts at once.

Experience coordinating labour, materials, plant, subcontractors, procurement or project documentation would be particularly useful.

Data centre or critical infrastructure experience would be advantageous, but isn't essential for the right person.

Why Apply?

This is a genuine opportunity to develop your career within project management.

You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers while gradually taking ownership of larger elements of project delivery, with the intention of progressing into a Project Manager position as your experience develops.

You'll also gain exposure to major data centre projects and international project delivery across the UK and Europe.

Please note: The position is based from the company's Braintree office and will involve regular travel to UK and European project sites, so applicants must be comfortable with international travel.
