Snr Data Center IT Support Technician

Overview

As a Microsoft Senior IT Support Data Center Technician (DCT), you will stage, set up and perform hardware deployments. In addition, you will also perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on equipment, as well as perform hardware decommissions for simple changes and refreshes following Standard Operating Procedures. You will also provide IT hardware support for secure access workstations (SAWs) laptops, servers as well as conference rooms Audio/Visual(A/V) and maintain inventory of spare devices for the sites and make sure the latest updates and operating systems(OS) are installed on the devices. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your understanding of Data Center standard processes and procedures, develop mentoring skills whilst providing guidance to peers, familiarizing yourself with security and data management procedures, and accelerate your career growth in the process. This role is based 100% onsite at one of our Data Centers in Sydney's North West.

Responsibilities
  • Build strong working relationships with people working within the Data Center and at multiple Data Center sites.
  • Ensure IT devices are in a “healthy” state, meeting Security’s compliance standard.
  • Receive confidential information to perform BIOS setting changes.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, assigning/re-assigning, and decommissioning devices.
  • Provide guidance to users for common repair issues and escalating issues experienced by users.
  • Perform Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA's) for equipment damaged within the first 30 days of receipt.
  • Provide IT support when needed. Responsibilities include: performing power cycles, handling storage media, and perform troubleshooting when needed. Also, performing cable installations, hardware rack / stack installations, testing, working through resolution of user account issues, and troubleshooting using standard Data Center processes.
  • Support the deployment of on-site Data Center physical infrastructure including Servers, NetDevices, SANs, Windows Server OS Support, Parts/Component replacement and physical hardware troubleshooting when required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, TAFE or equivalent
  • At least 3+ yrs industry work experience supporting IT equipment or related hardware technology (networks, routers, switches, AV equipment, Operating Systems, hardware inventory, cable installations, hardware rack / stack installations, testing, and troubleshooting using standard Data Center processes)

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or Government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Australian Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of Australian Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements which includes verification of an Australian Passport.
  • NV1/2, PV Clearance Assessment: This position may require an enhanced background check conducted through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.

Whilst not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical College Degree, or TAFE Diploma in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent industry work experience
  • Applicable Certifications: CompTIA, Microsoft, Network Certifications
  • Perform and execute safety programs and policies, and compliance knowledge.
  • No Shiftwork required in this role (8-5pm working hours) but may require overtime from time to time as and when required.
