Summary

Supports the Army Headquarters Operating Model by tracking business change programmes, managing benefits realisation, and maintaining data integrity for strategic alignment.

Unit Role:
Army HQ Design Authority is responsible for developing and assuring the Army Headquarters Operating Model, which defines the strategic and operational framework for the Army. It serves as the change authority and as such tracks programmes and projects across the Army that create amendments to the Operating Model. It ensures that it remains aligned with the wider Defence Operating Model changes. It consists of a small team that specialise in organisational design, business architecture and P3M methodologies.

Position Role:
SO2 AHQ Design Authority sits within the Army Headquarters Exec function, led by Brigadier General Staff, and reports to the SO1 AHQ Design Authority. The post is responsible for supporting the coherence of the Army Headquarters Operating Model (AOM) change and by ensuring that data relating to structures, processes and information flows is accurate, validated and maintained. The role also oversees the identification and management of interdependencies across business change activities, ensuring alignment with P3M governance and controls. This post leads, tracks and reports on AOM benefits realisation, risk and delivery progress internally and also upwards to Military Strategic HQ (MSHQ).

Responsibilities:
1. Collate and track all Defence and Army business change programmes and projects, primarily through liaison with the relevant programme or project team lead.
2. Create/maintain programme management dashboards to provide top level visibility and reporting.
3. Track and manage benefit realisation data. Use benefits knowledge to help programmes and projects map their benefits and develop their own benefits mgmt. plan.
4. Track and manage dependency delivery, primarily through liaison with the relevant programme or project team lead. To allow for timely escalation and to feed into existing risk mgmt. processes.
5. Maintain relationships externally with programme and project teams across Defence and internally into Army programme and project teams. As well as key stakeholders in the AHQ such as Productivity and Workforce plans.
6. Own the AOM repository that documents the structures, processes, functions and governance, including the management of changes to this information. Ensuring visibility of artifacts to Users, managing access and maintaining data quality.
7. Prepare and deliver written and oral communications as required using a variety of communication channels.

Domestic Considerations:
Andover-based but highly flexible work arrangements based on achievement of outputs rather than the work location. Some travel may be required and occasional overnight stays.
