SOC Analyst

Salary: £35,000 - 45,000 per year

• Experience working within a SOC or Security Operations environment
• Exposure to Microsoft Sentinel and/or Microsoft Defender
• A good understanding of security incident investigation and response
• Knowledge of Windows environments and general networking and security principles
• Exposure to KQL is beneficial
• A genuine desire to develop technically and progress within cybersecurity

• Investigate and respond to security incidents through to resolution at 2nd Line level
• Monitor customer environments and investigate SIEM alerts
• Proactively threat hunt and identify potential security risks
• Support vulnerability assessment and remediation
• Work across the Microsoft security stack, including Sentinel, Defender and Entra
• Use KQL and PowerShell for investigations and automation
• Act as an escalation point for more junior analysts
• Contribute to improvements in SOC processes and detection capabilities
• Communicate with customers and internal teams about security incidents

Were recruiting a SOC Analyst to join our growing Security Operations team in Newcastle. This is an opportunity for an established SOC Analyst or a strong 1st Line Analyst ready to take the next step, with hands-on exposure to a broad Microsoft security environment, greater ownership of investigations and incidents, and opportunities to develop technically. The role will initially follow a 4-on, 4-off night shift pattern during a transition period, with a longer-term move to an 8-hour shift model. The role is currently remote, with plans for the Newcastle team to spend more time together in the office as our local operation grows.
