Social Media Content Creator (Reels)

Full-Time | The Nuggets Academy (TNA)

The Nuggets Academy is looking for a creative, resourceful and highly independent Social Media Content Creator to join our team.

This is a Reels-heavy, content creation role.

We’re not looking for someone whose main strength is making pretty graphics or doing complicated video edits. We want someone who can spot content opportunities, come up with strong ideas, turn them into scripts, pick up a camera and make the content happen.

You’ll work closely with our founder, teachers and team to create engaging content around education, tuition, students, teachers, parenting and life behind the scenes at TNA.

What You’ll Be Doing

🎬 Content Ideation & Reels

This will be the biggest part of your role.

  • Brainstorm and develop ideas for Instagram Reels and short-form video content

  • Keep up with social media trends, hooks, formats and content styles

  • Turn everyday happenings at the centre into interesting content angles

  • Develop content around education, tuition, parenting, teachers and student learning

  • Plan content with a good balance of educational, entertaining, relatable and brand-building pieces

  • Think beyond trends — we want content with a clear hook, story and purpose

✍🏼 Scripting & AI-Assisted Content Creation

  • Write hooks, scripts, interview prompts and content outlines

  • Use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude comfortably for research, ideation and scripting

  • Know how to use AI as a creative partner rather than simply copying whatever it generates

  • Refine AI-generated ideas so that they sound natural and fit TNA’s voice

  • Repurpose good ideas into different content formats and angles

📹 Filming & Content Production

A big part of this role involves actually getting on the ground and filming.

  • Film teachers, students, classes, events and behind-the-scenes moments

  • Direct simple shoots and help the person on camera feel comfortable

  • Know how to frame shots, capture usable audio and get sufficient B-roll

  • Be proactive in spotting moments worth capturing instead of always waiting to be told what to film

  • Occasionally appear in or participate in content where appropriate

  • Organise footage properly for our in-house editor

You do not need to be a professional videographer, but you should have a good visual eye and be comfortable creating social-first content.

✂️ Basic Video Editing

We have an in-house editor for heavier edits, so advanced editing is not the focus of this position.

However, you should be comfortable with CapCut and able to:

  • Produce simple Reels independently

  • Trim and sequence clips

  • Add subtitles, music, text and basic transitions

  • Create quick-turnaround content when needed

  • Prepare rough cuts or clear editing directions for our editor

🎨 Basic Canva Design

Approximately 10–20% of the role may involve simple design work.

You should be comfortable using Canva for things such as:

  • Social media graphics

  • Stories

  • Simple posters and announcements

  • Reel covers

  • Basic marketing materials

You don’t need to be a graphic designer, but you should have a good eye for layout, consistency and detail.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Creative — ideas don’t always need to be handed to you

  • Independent — you can take an idea and figure out how to execute it

  • Responsible — if you own something, you follow through

  • Resourceful — when something doesn’t go according to plan, you find another way

  • Meticulous — you notice the small things before content goes out

  • Comfortable with organised chaos — education centres move quickly and plans sometimes change

  • Flexible — you’re comfortable adapting your schedule when shoots, events or content opportunities come up

  • A keen learner — social media changes constantly and we expect you to keep learning

  • Comfortable working with ChatGPT, Claude and other AI tools

  • Comfortable filming and directing people

  • Familiar with CapCut and Canva

  • Interested in education, tuition, children, parenting or learning

  • Familiar with Instagram, TikTok and short-form content culture

You don’t need to know everything on Day 1.

We care a lot about whether you are curious, dependable, willing to learn and able to figure things out independently.

Working Arrangement

Full-time position

This role requires some flexibility because content doesn’t always happen neatly between Monday and Friday.

  • Flexible working days depending on shoots, centre activities and events

  • Some weekend work will be required

  • Working schedule may vary from week to week

  • Total working hours will remain within approximately 40–44 hours per week

  • Weekend work will be balanced within the overall work schedule

This role would suit someone who prefers a dynamic environment over a very rigid 9-to-5 routine.

What Success Looks Like

We don’t want someone who waits every morning to be given a list of things to do.

A strong person in this role will gradually be able to:

Spot an idea → develop the angle → write the hook/script → plan the shoot → film it → produce a basic edit or brief our editor → get the content ready to publish.

You should eventually become someone who helps us answer:

“What should TNA be talking about this week?”

rather than waiting for us to tell you.

Application & Selection Process

Because this is a hands-on creative role, portfolio and practical ability matter more to us than qualifications alone.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a trial content/editing assignment before the interview.

The assignment may involve:

  • Developing Reel ideas from a brief

  • Writing hooks or a short script

  • Creating a simple Reel/edit from provided footage

  • Demonstrating how you would approach a piece of TNA content

We’re looking at your thinking, creativity, attention to detail and execution — not just fancy editing skills.

About The Nuggets Academy

The Nuggets Academy is an education centre focused on helping students understand concepts in manageable, bite-sized ways while building confidence in learning.

We’re a growing team, which means things move quickly, ideas get tested, and everyone gets opportunities to contribute beyond a very narrow job scope.

If you enjoy creating content, experimenting with AI, filming real people and turning everyday moments into stories, we’d love to hear from you.
