A day in the life…
As a Social Media Producer, you'll work at the intersection of journalism, social media and digital content, transforming the day's biggest news stories into engaging content for audiences across social and video platforms. Working alongside journalists, producers and camera operators, you'll help bring 7NEWS to audiences wherever they are, not just on television.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to combine a passion for news with a deep understanding of digital platforms and audience behaviour.
More specifically, you will
- Create and publish engaging news content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and other social platforms.
- Turn breaking news and major stories into compelling digital-first content.
- Edit video content for social media, including vertical video, reels, shorts and long-form formats.
- Work closely with reporters, producers and camera operators to identify content opportunities.
- Help grow audiences, engagement and viewership across 7NEWS social channels.
- Monitor trends, audience behaviour and platform performance to inform content decisions.
- Contribute ideas for new formats, series and storytelling approaches.
- Support coverage of major news events and breaking stories.
What will you need
- A genuine obsession with news, journalism and current affairs.
- A strong understanding of social media platforms and what drives engagement.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- A passion for storytelling and creating content people want to watch and share.
- Strong video editing skills using Premier Pro and confidence working across digital platforms.
- Curiosity, creativity and a willingness to experiment with new content formats.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment and respond quickly to breaking news.
