The Chief Geriatrics and Extended Care (C-GEC) provides administrative, clinical, & programmatic leadership for the geriatric and extended care programs to ensure achievement of the clinical, & education goals. The incumbent serves as a key clinical resource for the Medical Center Director & Chief of Staff. The C-GEC is an advance practice licensed independent practitioner with advanced clinical experience as well as demonstrated administrative and leadership skills & oversees multiple programs.
VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU VA Careers - Licensed Clinical Social Worker: https://youtube.com/embed/U_xC25QsN0w Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Manages and directs unusually large interdisciplinary programs and complex organizational units Work collaboratively with the Chief of Staff in the direction and coordination and integration of the GEC programs, including resource management Analyzes organizational and operational problems and develops and implements solutions that result in sound operation of the program and uses data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service Serve as a member of the leadership team and uses professional standards of care and practice to evaluate programs and other services Plan, coordinate, and ensure high quality care through utilization of multiple quality measurement tools Collaborates with internal and external partners to further program goals and enhance patient centered care Lead, develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate clinical and administrative processes related to Extended Care, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care needs of Veterans Establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of medical center professionals and relate effectively with support staff, customers, families, and the community as well as program and service leaders at the local and network levels Provides the full range of supervisory duties which include responsibility for assignment of work to be performed; performance evaluations; selection of staff, training, and recommendation of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary action Evaluate clinical practice or health services and participate in the development/evaluation of practice guidelines, implementing best practices and assures the performance expectations are supportive of the qualification standards for all staff are communicated and reflected in the appraisals Provide executive-level administrative direction for medical practice within GEC programs and throughout the health care system Balances responsibilities in a complex environment and to work with great autonomy, set priorities and delegate tasks, meet multiple deadlines; analyze complex organizational problems and develop and implement effective solutions for those problems Participate in executive-level decision-making deliberations that influence the future strategic planning of GEC across the VA Salt Lake City Medical System Lead, collaborate, integrate, facilitate, and evaluate program outcomes, especially in collaboration with Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center clinical innovations Promotes and effectively manages a culturally diverse workforce which embraces the values and needs of all individuals through long-term commitment, strategic and business planning, education, experience which broadens the mindset and by fully managing human resources Oversees the fiscal matters of the functions supervised (including fund controls, contracts, and equipment expenditures), forecast resource and equipment needs, and administers the allocated budget Establishes policies, procedures and quality monitors while considering multiple priorities, funding sources, and varying resources Assesses need for basic and complex services across multiple programmatic patient care venues, coordinate and expand the efforts of multiple program elements across a complex system Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary & regular salary increases.
