The role We are looking for a Software Architect who combines strong architectural thinking with deep hands-on engineering capability.

This is not an architecture role where you spend your week producing diagrams and handing development to somebody else. You will set technical direction, make key design decisions and remain close to the code, building and delivering solutions across the full stack.

You will work across front-end, back-end and AWS architecture, taking ideas from technical design through to production.

The level is flexible from Senior Architect through to Principal, depending on your experience and the breadth of technical and leadership responsibility you can take on.
What you’ll do

• Architect, design and build modern applications end to end
• Work hands-on across front-end and back-end technologies
• Design scalable, resilient and secure solutions on AWS
• Turn complex business problems into pragmatic technical solutions
• Lead architecture and technical design sessions
• Make key decisions around platforms, patterns, integration and engineering approach
• Review code and help maintain a high engineering standard
• Mentor senior engineers and influence engineering practices
• Take solutions from initial concept through to production

What we’re looking for You’ll be an experienced Software Architect, Solution Architect or Principal Engineer who has stayed technically current and enjoys building as much as designing.
You will bring:

• Strong hands-on software engineering experience across the full stack
• Deep commercial AWS experience – this is essential
• Strong application and software architecture capability
• Experience designing and delivering scalable production systems
• A track record of taking solutions from design through to implementation
• Strong engineering fundamentals and sound architectural judgement
• The ability to communicate technical decisions clearly with both engineers and stakeholders
• A pragmatic mindset – able to balance architectural quality with actually getting things built
