Build Technology That Makes a Difference

Are you a developer who enjoys building things from scratch, solving complex problems and finding better ways to work?

Yoonet is seeking a Software Developer to support an independent, locally owned allied health organization in New Zealand. The organization provides physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, and community rehabilitation services under a range of government and private contracts.

Technology is central to its plans for growth and improving care delivery. As the business's first dedicated developer, you'll work directly with the owners and clinical directors, with the autonomy to turn ideas into practical solutions without unnecessary layers of approval.

This is a long-term opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of what they build, contribute ideas and help shape the future of technology within a growing healthcare business.

What You'll Build

1. A Central Clinical Tool

Your first major project will be developing a central workspace that clinicians can use throughout their day. This tool will connect with existing systems and use AI to help clinicians:

  • Prepare clinical notes more efficiently.

  • Process reports and documentation.

  • Access client statistics and track outcomes over time.

  • Manage follow-ups and ongoing tasks.

  • Automate routine clinical workflows.

  • Use internal data to support better care and decision-making.

2. Browser-Based Tools and AI Enhancements

The organisation uses several browser-based practice management systems. You'll develop Chrome extensions and other enhancements to introduce functionality such as:

  • AI-assisted clinical documentation.

  • Treatment pathway support.

  • Automated report processing.

  • Customised features for different government and private healthcare contracts.

3. Business Automation and System Integration

Beyond clinical tools, you'll identify opportunities to improve processes across the wider business, including finance, HR and customer service. This may involve connecting existing systems, automating repetitive tasks and improving reporting and information flow.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, deploy and maintain internal applications and tools.

  • Take ownership of projects from initial discussions through to implementation and continuous improvement.

  • Integrate AI capabilities, APIs, databases and existing business systems.

  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve operational efficiency.

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and maintain reliable solutions.

  • Work directly with business owners and clinical directors to understand needs and recommend practical solutions.

  • Document systems and processes to support ongoing maintenance and future development.

  • Prioritise data security, privacy and reliability when working with sensitive health information.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, learning new technologies and taking responsibility for the quality and outcomes of their work.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Experience in software development, application development or systems engineering.

  • The ability to build and deliver applications or automation solutions from concept to deployment.

  • Familiarity with APIs, databases, system integrations and cloud-based environments.

  • Experience with AI integration or AI-assisted development tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • The ability to work from high-level requirements and determine practical ways to implement them.

  • Clear communication skills and confidence working directly with non-technical stakeholders.

  • A strong sense of ownership, attention to detail and commitment to building reliable systems.

Experience with Chrome extensions, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Bedrock or healthcare systems would be advantageous.

You don't need to know every tool in the client's environment. We're interested in your ability to learn quickly, work through unfamiliar challenges and deliver solutions that hold up in real-world use.

The Technology Environment

You'll work with a combination of internally developed systems, cloud infrastructure and AI tools, including:

  • Microsoft Azure, hosted in a New Zealand environment.

  • Amazon Bedrock for AI processing involving sensitive health data.

  • Browser-based and desktop practice management systems.

  • AI coding and agent tools, including Claude, Codex, Grok and Hermes Agent.

  • Internal databases, integrations and automation workflows.

Why Join This Opportunity?

Take ownership. Be the first dedicated developer and have a direct influence on the organisation's technology direction.

Work closely with decision-makers. Collaborate directly with the owners and clinical directors, with room to recommend improvements and shape solutions.

Build meaningful products. Your work will support clinicians, streamline healthcare processes and contribute to better service delivery and client outcomes.

Explore AI and automation. Work on practical applications of AI in a healthcare environment, alongside existing systems and workflows.

Grow for the long term. Become part of the team, build relationships with the people using your tools and expand your responsibilities as the business grows.
