Position Overview
We are looking for a Software Developer to support the design, development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of software solutions for product enhancements and new products.
You will join our Digital Solution Connectivity team and develop the embedded software platform that connects ESAB equipment to our InduSuite system.
The role focuses on developing connectivity solutions and embedded software with performance, reliability, and scalability in mind. You will work closely with R&D colleagues, including Cloud representatives, Architecture Owners, Software Designers, and System Testers, contributing to solutions across embedded Linux, connected platforms, and connected services.
You will apply sound software engineering principles, participate in technical investigations, and communicate your findings clearly while continuing to develop your technical expertise within a collaborative international environment.
Responsibilities
Software development:
- Design, implement and maintain software solutions based on input requirements:
- Develop and maintain Linux embedded/software platform components, primarily in C++
- Perform debugging and troubleshooting across application code
- Apply secure and robust programming practices
- Time estimations and planning of software work
- Technical documentation and instructions
Work Processes:
- Continuously identify and implement improvements of work processes and methods
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Technical Skills
- A solid foundation and practical experience in the following areas are required:
- Software Design and Architecture:
- Scalable and flexible software design
- Modern C++ (C++17/20) Programming
- Gitlab CI/CD
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, MQTT REST APIs and communication Protocols (e.g. IPC, CAN, Ethernet)
- Methods for module and system testing, understanding of test automation in CI/CD pipelines
Basic understanding or familiarity with the following areas is preferred:
- Developing software for resource-constrained systems
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools.
- Microcontrollers and low-level Programming (e.g. Cortex, ARM, STM)
- Software/Hardware interaction

Industry Experience
- Min 2 years working experience with software design is required.
- No previous experience in welding industry is required.
Education
- B.Sc or M.Sc in Computer Science, Software engineering or Equivalent education.
