Overview
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer (Java / Angular) to support the modernization of a critical operational reporting platform. The role involves re-platforming legacy WebFOCUS reports into a scalable, cloud-based web application hosted on Microsoft Azure, aligned with Ontario Public Service (OPS) standards.
You will work across the full stack—designing APIs, developing front-end interfaces, and transforming complex reporting logic into a modern architecture.
Project Context
- Replace legacy WebFOCUS BI reporting system
- Build a modern reporting portal (Java backend + Angular frontend)
- Ensure compliance with OPS architecture, security, and AODA accessibility standards
- Deploy and maintain solution in Azure environment
Key Responsibilities
Frontend Development
- Develop responsive, accessible UI using Angular
- Translate existing WebFOCUS report layouts into modern UI views
- Ensure AODA/WCAG compliance
- Implement unit and automated UI testing
Backend & API Development
- Design and build RESTful APIs
- Develop Java-based backend services
- Integrate frontend with APIs for reporting and data access
- Maintain API documentation and versioning
Data & Reporting Migration
- Reverse engineer and migrate WebFOCUS logic
- Refactor SQL queries and business rules
- Design and manage relational databases
DevOps & Deployment
- Manage source code in Azure DevOps
- Support CI/CD pipelines
- Deploy applications in Microsoft Azure
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Deliver technical documentation
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with internal teams
Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
Full Stack Development
- 8+ years in Java backend/API development
- 5+ years with Angular (or similar JS frameworks)
- Strong experience delivering end-to-end full stack solutions
- Expertise in designing scalable, maintainable architectures
Database & Reporting
- Strong SQL and relational database experience
- Experience migrating/rebuilding reporting systems (e.g., WebFOCUS, BI tools)
API & Cloud
- Experience building REST APIs
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred)
Agile Delivery
- 5+ years working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Ability to work independently and manage deliverables
