Software Engineer
Purpose Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications that enhance data visualisation, discovery, and delivery capabilities, ensuring a seamless and accessible user experience across AODN platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, support, and maintain web-based and geospatial applications hosted on AWS.
• Build responsive, scalable, and user-friendly web applications using modern front-end technologies.
• Implement high-quality UI/UX designs and ensure technical feasibility and performance.
• Develop interactive data visualisation tools, maps, and dashboards for scientific and geospatial data.
• Collaborate with designers, developers, and stakeholders to improve usability and application standards.
• Participate in Agile/SCRUM ceremonies and contribute to the design, delivery, and maintenance of software solutions.
• Ensure code quality through testing, documentation, version control, and software engineering best practices.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to systems and processes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with HTML, TypeScript, React, and modern UI frameworks such as Tailwind CSS, MUI, or Semantic UI.
• Experience developing data-driven web applications, including interactive maps and data visualisations.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, web accessibility standards, SEO, and analytics.
• Experience working within Agile/SCRUM environments.
• Strong communication skills with attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Next.js, Vite, and server-side development using Python or PHP.
• Knowledge of unit testing and end-to-end (E2E) testing frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern software development practices.
