Software Developer Intern (Rigsite)
Summary
A 16-month internship (May 2027–Aug 2028) on Pason's Rigsite Software team in Calgary, where the intern designs, implements, and tests software features and fixes production defects on two significant projects, mentored by the team. Core technologies include Java, C#, TypeScript, Python, SQL, web development, and AI-powered coding tools.
Pason is seeking software developer interns for our Rigsite Software team for a 16-month internship from May 2027 until August 2028. During your internship at Pason, you will build strong competencies in software design and development. You will be working on two challenging software projects which are significant to the company and have the support and mentoring of the teams to help you deliver those projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test software features utilizing our extensive suite of development tools and a combination of Java, C#, Typescript, Python, and AI-powered tools.
- Investigate and resolve defects as part of release development and reported from production systems
- Work with the Product Management, Quality Assurance, and User Experience teams to deliver features and functionality that provide exceptional user experience
- Participate in all aspects of the software development process, including requirements definition (user stories), high-level designs, sizing and estimating exercises, code reviews, documentation and testing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge in software languages such as Java, C#, Typescript, Python, SQL, and web development
- Ability to use AI tools to support coding, debugging, testing documentation, and learning new technologies.
- Familiar with Linux systems (Linux virtual machines a plus)
- Strong commitment to quality
- Ability to work in a team or as an individual
- Knowledge in relational databases and SQL would be an asset
Hybrid work Environment
- This position allows the opportunity for an employee to work in a hybrid environment where a portion of their role is in the office and the other portion remote.
Education
- Currently enrolled in 3rd year studies in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related Program
