THE ROLE
Ncontracts is seeking a Software Developer -- L5 to serve as a technical leader and strategic contributor within our engineering organization. This role will be responsible for driving architectural decisions, leading complex technical initiatives, and shaping the technical direction of our products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering leadership, product management, and design while serving as a key technical mentor and decision-maker for development teams.
A Software Developer -- L5 at Ncontracts is expected to exhibit the following attributes:
Technical Leadership: Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions across multiple teams and products. Lead by example in code quality, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
Strategic Mentorship: Beyond individual mentoring, you'll be responsible for developing junior and mid-level talent across the organization, creating learning pathways, and establishing technical standards.
Systems Thinking: Ability to see the big picture across multiple systems and products, identifying opportunities for consolidation, optimization, and strategic technical improvements.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work effectively with executive leadership, product management, and external stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate technical constraints and opportunities.
Innovation Driver: Research, evaluate, and champion adoption of new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies that can provide competitive advantages and improve organizational efficiency.
Quality Guardian: Establish and maintain coding standards, review processes, and quality metrics across development teams. Drive initiatives to improve system reliability, performance, and maintainability.
Problem Ownership: Take full ownership of complex, ambiguous problems that span multiple systems or teams, driving them to resolution with minimal oversight.
It is expected you will have the following:
7+ years of software development experience with demonstrated progression in technical leadership roles
Expert-level proficiency in multiple programming languages including C#/.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js)
Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture, microservices, and cloud-native design patterns
Extensive experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) including infrastructure as code, containerization, and orchestration
Advanced knowledge of database design, optimization, and management across SQL and NoSQL systems
Proven experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and DevOps practices
Strong background in API design, security implementations, and systems integration
Experience with performance optimization, scalability planning, and system monitoring
Track record of leading technical projects from conception to delivery
It is helpful for you to have at least some of the following:
Experience in fintech, compliance, or heavily regulated industries
Background in data engineering, analytics, or machine learning implementations
Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time data processing
Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (SOC 2, GDPR, etc.)
Experience managing technical debt and legacy system modernization
Background in technical writing, documentation, and knowledge sharing
Experience with agile methodologies and team leadership
Understanding of business strategy and ability to align technical decisions with business objectives
LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS
As an L5 developer, you will be expected to:
Participate in technical hiring decisions and interview processes
Contribute to engineering roadmap planning and technical strategy
Lead architectural review processes and technical design discussions
Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues
Drive initiatives to improve engineering productivity and developer experience
Mentor and develop other senior engineers within the organization
