Software Developer - LAMP

Build the technology behind payments.

SegPay is looking for an experienced Software Developer to join our Gateway team and help build, maintain, and enhance the technology powering our payment gateway and financial transaction-processing systems.

In this role, you'll work across the full development lifecycle-from design and development to testing, deployment, and production support. You'll collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, QA, and DevOps to turn business requirements into reliable technical solutions.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain applications supporting payment gateway and financial transaction processing

• Develop solutions using the LAMP stack: Linux, Apache, MySQL/MariaDB, and PHP

• Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, QA, production support, and releases

• Troubleshoot production and client-facing issues and develop solutions that help prevent future problems

• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Product Owners to translate requirements into technical solutions

• Partner with QA to support testing and maintain transaction accuracy and data integrity

• Work with DevOps on builds, deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and production support

• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and backlog refinement

• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code

• Support and enhance existing and legacy applications

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience

• 3–5 years of professional software development experience in a production team environment

• Strong experience developing with the LAMP stack

• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment

• Experience with source control and development/testing methodologies

• Understanding of object-oriented design/programming, MVC frameworks, and common design patterns

• Ability to produce high-quality, working code in a 24/7 production environment

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively

The JD also identifies Git, BitBucket, Jira, refactoring, TDD/unit testing, and related Agile development practices as relevant experience.

Even Better If You Have

• Experience with financial transaction processing or payment gateway systems

• Experience with credit card processing and/or ACH

• Experience with HTML, CSS, or JavaScript

• Perl experience

Payment gateway and credit card/ACH experience are listed as pluses rather than requirements in the current JD.
