Software Developer (NET)
Summary
Vissim seeks a C#/.NET software developer to build, test, and maintain its real products and integrations alongside developers, QA, Product, and Operations. The role combines standard engineering (ASP.NET, REST APIs, Entity Framework, SQL Server, Git, automated tests) with hands-on agentic AI development workflows.
Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Developer with solid C#/.NET experience who wants to grow in both standard and agentic software development. You will work on real Vissim products, including established production systems and new solutions, together with experienced developers, QA, Product, and Operations colleagues.
This is not a purely AI-focused role. You should be comfortable developing, testing, and maintaining software using standard engineering practices. At the same time, we are looking for someone who has already used a full agentic development workflow to build and deliver a real product or substantial product functionality into a production environment.
Requirements
Required Experience and Skills
- 2+ years of practical software development experience, preferably with C# and .NET.
- Experience with C#, .NET Framework or modern .NET, ASP.NET, REST APIs, Entity Framework, and Git.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and relational databases.
- Experience writing or maintaining automated tests.
- Understanding of clean code, basic software design, debugging, and version-control workflows.
- Ability to work with existing software and make safe, incremental changes.
- Intermediate or higher spoken and written English.
AI and Agentic Development Experience
- Hands-on experience with tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or comparable development tools.
- Practical experience using agents for multi-step and end-to-end development work, not only code completion or isolated development tasks.
- Demonstrable experience using a full agentic development workflow to build and deliver a real product, or substantial product functionality, that has been deployed to and used in a production environment.
- Ability to check AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and test coverage.
- Ability to explain personal contribution, the agentic workflow used, how the generated solution was reviewed and tested, and how production quality remained under developer ownership.
Mindset
- Enthusiastic about software engineering and motivated to grow into a stronger independent developer.
- Curious about AI and agentic development, but grounded in standard engineering practices.
- Open to feedback and comfortable asking questions when requirements or solutions are unclear.
- Responsible for the quality of own work, regardless of how the code was created.
- Collaborative, practical, and willing to share knowledge with the team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Prism, WPF, DirectX, WebSocket, or real-time applications.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or automated quality checks.
- Experience with on-premise production systems or long-lived enterprise products.
- Exposure to LLM APIs, AI-enabled product features, or specification-driven development.
- Interest in maritime, monitoring, visualization, or operational software products.
What We Value
At Vissim, AI supports good engineering rather than replacing it. We are looking for someone with a solid standard-development foundation who has already taken agentic development beyond experimentation and used it to deliver real production software. The right candidate is enthusiastic about developing both areas further and about combining them safely in Vissim products.Responsibilities
Software Development
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain C#/.NET applications, services, APIs, and integrations.
- Contribute across the development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and solution design to deployment and support.
- Work with both existing codebases and new product development.
- Write clean, understandable code and automated unit and integration tests.
- Investigate defects, support root-cause analysis, and implement reliable fixes.
- Participate in code reviews and gradually take ownership of complete development tasks.
AI-Assisted and Agentic Development
- Use AI coding assistants and agentic tools across a complete development workflow, including analysis, specification, implementation, testing, documentation, review, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare clear task descriptions, context, constraints, and acceptance criteria for AI-supported work.
- Review and test AI-generated output before it becomes part of the product.
- Choose together with the team when standard development, AI assistance, or an agentic workflow is the best approach.
- Share practical findings and help improve the team’s safe and effective use of AI development tools.
Team and Product Quality
- Collaborate with developers, QA/QE, Product, DevOps, IT Operations, and other colleagues.
- Follow Vissim engineering, security, testing, and delivery standards.
- Document important technical decisions and software behavior.
- Ask for support when needed, learn from feedback, and actively contribute ideas for improvement.
