Summary
Backend software developer building cloud-native Java services and RESTful APIs on AWS (Lambda, ECS/Fargate, DynamoDB/RDS, S3, CDK), with SQL/NoSQL data layers, testing/CI, containerization, and observability tooling for energy-industry software. Onsite in Norman, OK; master's degree and two years of AWS backend experience required.
Job Duties:
- Design and implement backend application components, service-layer logic, and distributed software modules.
- Build and enhance RESTful APIs, data models, validation logic, error-handling flows, and service integration points used by internal applications and downstream systems. Apply knowledge of low-latency API design, microservices architecture, and secure backend communication patterns.
- Participate in architecture discussions and technical design decisions for new and existing systems. Use modern GenAI or large language model tools to assist with complex technical analysis and solution design.
- Develop backend logic that stores, retrieves, processes, and manages application data across SQL databases, NoSQL databases, object storage systems. Support efficient data access, system consistency, data reliability, and performance optimization for business-critical workflows.
- Create and maintain unit tests, integration tests, build processes, and continuous integration workflows to improve software reliability and reduce deployment risk. Support containerized development and deployment practices using Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools.
- Use observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK Stack, logs, metrics, Linux/Unix troubleshooting techniques, and modern GenAI or large language model tools to analyze complex technical problems, accelerate root-cause investigation, and improve engineering productivity.
- Review software changes for correctness, maintainability, security, test coverage, and adherence to coding standards. Apply clean code principles, Java best practices, object-oriented programming, software design patterns, and AI-assisted development tools.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Two years of experiences as Software Engineer, in developing cloud-native backend software on AWS and cloud-managed architecture and services;
- Two years of experiences in developing RESTful API and service-integration logic, and developing SQL and NoSQL data access layers, data models, persistence logic, data validation, data consistency controls.
- Skills in Java, RESTful APIs, AWS CDK, Linux/Unix, Lambda/EC2, DynamoDB/RDS, S3, ECS/Fargate, SNS/SQS, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, VPC, WAF.
