Summary
Software Developer (two openings) at Smithsonian Enterprises, building and supporting enterprise Microsoft-stack solutions on-site in Washington, DC: Dynamics 365 F&O customizations, Azure data pipelines and integrations, Power BI reporting, and CI/CD via Azure DevOps and GitHub.

- Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and support enterprise applications, integrations, reports, and technical solutions using Microsoft technologies, including Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Azure services, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, and SQL Server.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, customers, and cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs, development tasks, and scalable solution architectures.
- Design and implement secure, high-quality, and maintainable solutions that meet functional, technical, performance, and supportability requirements.
- Develop, test, deploy, and support customizations, extensions, integrations, reports, and automation solutions within the Microsoft technology ecosystem.
- Design, develop, monitor, and support enterprise data integrations, ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and dataflows utilizing Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Integration Services, and related technologies.
- Develop and support APIs, web services, event-driven integrations, and data exchange processes between internal and external systems.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and analytics solutions to support business decision-making and operational reporting.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance test plans to ensure solution quality and reliability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, user guides, support procedures, and operational documentation.
- Implement and support CI/CD pipelines, source control processes, and deployment activities using Azure DevOps, GitHub, and related DevOps tools.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to maintain system stability and reliability.
- Support software releases, environment management, upgrades, patches, data migrations, and deployment activities across development, test, and production environments.
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize databases, data models, and reporting structures to support application and analytics requirements.
- Research, evaluate, and develop expertise in third-party software products, services, and integration technologies.
- Provide project estimates, technical assessments, status updates, and recommendations to project teams, management, and stakeholders.
- Manage assigned work activities and project deliverables effectively, ensuring high-quality results are delivered within established timelines and priorities.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to junior and less experienced team members.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with customers, business stakeholders, vendors, and IT team members regarding project status, risks, issues, and solutions.
- Collaborate effectively with developers, analysts, administrators, architects, and other IT professionals to deliver innovative and reliable business solutions.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry best practices, Microsoft platform enhancements, and organizational standards to continuously improve solutions and processes.
Experience required for this position is as follows:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, developing, implementing, integrating, and supporting enterprise solutions using Microsoft technologies, including Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Azure services, SQL Server, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, and related development tools.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, database design, data modeling, SQL development, SSRS reporting, and data management best practices.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O), including architecture, configuration, customization, extension, implementation, anSolwed development using X++ and object-oriented programming principles.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise reporting, dashboards, analytics, and data visualization solutions using Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, report optimization, and integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure data platforms.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 products, application customization tools, development frameworks, and Finance and Supply Chain Management processes.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, implementing, monitoring, supporting, and troubleshooting enterprise data integration solutions, ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and dataflows using Microsoft Azure Data Factory (ADF), Microsoft Fabric, Azure Integration Services, and related cloud technologies.
- Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, source control, and deployment processes using Azure DevOps, GitHub, and related DevOps tools.
- Strong knowledge of Azure services and analytics platforms, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Monitor, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Microsoft Fabric Warehouse and Lakehouse environments.
- Experience developing and supporting enterprise integrations, REST APIs, web services, and event-driven architectures using Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, and related Azure Integration Services technologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform development, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and related technologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft development technologies and tools, including .NET, C#, X++, Visual Studio, SQL, SSRS, XML, JSON, ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, coding standards, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Working knowledge of information technology best practices, standards, methodologies, and terminology.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, analytical, and prioritization skills.
- Highly resourceful team player with the ability to work independently and effectively within a collaborative environment.

- Experience working within retail, e-commerce, finance, nonprofit, government, museum, or similar enterprise environments.
- Experience with Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management implementations, upgrades, and environment refreshes.
- Familiarity with security, compliance, and governance best practices related to Dynamics 365, Azure, and Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or DevOps-based software development environments.
