Software Development Engineer - Backend (Java)

We are looking for a high-performing Backend Engineer (Java / Spring Boot) with 4+ years of experience to design, build, and maintain mission-critical backend microservices. You will work on high-volume payment, lending, and API integrations, owning services end-to-end from architectural design to production delivery and monitoring.

Responsibilities:

• Service Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain clean, scalable, and fault-tolerant microservices and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• High-Throughput Systems: Build scalable architectures capable of handling high traffic volume, low latency, and concurrent financial transactions.
• End-to-End Ownership: Own services across the entire lifecycle from system design and DB schema planning to deployment, monitoring, and production bug fixing.
• System Performance: Optimize database queries, JVM memory management, garbage collection, and caching mechanisms to maximize throughput.
• Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional product, frontend, and QA teams to translate complex financial business logic into reliable technical solutions.
• Code Quality and Security: Maintain high code quality through code reviews, automated unit testing, and adherence to security standards (JWT, OAuth2).

Requirements:

• Core Tech Stack: Strong proficiency in Core Java (Java 8/11/17) and hands-on experience with Spring Boot/Spring Framework.
• Experience: 4+ years of backend engineering experience building web applications and microservices.
• APIs and Architecture: Deep expertise in RESTful API design, microservices communication, design patterns, and OOP principles.
• Databases: Hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL) and NoSQL / In-Memory stores (Redis / MongoDB).
• Concurrency and JVM: Strong grasp of Java multithreading, concurrency concepts, and JVM internals.
• Tooling: Proficiency with Git version control, Maven/Gradle build tools, and post-deployment monitoring.

Good to Have / Bonus Points:

• Experience in fintech, payments, lending, or high-scale B2B SaaS platforms.
• Hands-on experience with asynchronous streaming/messaging tools like Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS: EC2, S3, RDS) and containerization (Docker / Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and zero-downtime deployment strategies (Blue-Green, Canary).
• Knowledge of observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or Datadog.
