Software Development Engineer II, Amazon 1P Lending
Summary
SDE II on Amazon's 1P Lending team in São Paulo, building and owning services behind lending products in Brazil and Mexico — onboarding, credit decisioning, loan servicing and repayments. Day to day spans design docs, coding, code reviews, production on-call, and working with Product, Risk, Finance and Compliance partners.
You'll build and own services that handle customer onboarding, credit decisioning, loan servicing, repayments, and integration with local partners and regulators. These are critical financial systems, so they must be correct, secure, auditable and highly available.
You'll be part of a team of engineers in São Paulo and work closely with engineering teams in India and with Product, Risk, Finance and Compliance partners in Brazil and Mexico. You'll own features from design to production, help shape the team's architecture, and see your work directly affect customers' access to credit.
We're looking for a strong engineer with high ownership. You should enjoy solving hard problems, write high-quality code, and care about how your systems behave in production.
Key job responsibilities
Design and build: Design, write, test and launch scalable, reliable services and features for lending products in Brazil and Mexico.
Own your systems from start to finish: Take features from requirements and technical design through deployment, monitoring and ongoing improvement.
Contribute to architecture: Write and review design docs, weigh technical trade-offs, and help shape the team's system architecture with senior engineers and the SDM.
Build for financial services: Build in the security, data privacy, auditability and correctness that regulated lending systems need, including local requirements in Brazil and Mexico.
Work across geographies: Work with engineering teams in India and partner teams in Brazil and Mexico on shared services, integrations and launches.
Run what you build: Take part in on-call, debug production issues, lead root-cause analysis and make lasting fixes.
Raise the bar: Do thorough code reviews, improve engineering practices, and mentor junior engineers and interns.
Work with business partners: Partner with Product, Risk and Compliance to turn customer and regulatory needs into technical solutions.
A day in the life
On a given day you might:
Write the design doc for a new repayment-scheduling service.
Review a teammate's code and suggest a simpler approach.
Pair with an engineer in India to debug an integration issue.
Work with Risk to understand a new credit-decisioning rule.
Ship a feature to production and watch its metrics after launch.
You'll split your time between design, coding, operations and working with your team and partners.
