Brief Introduction to the team:
We're the Loyalty India engineering team within Expedia Group's Membership & Engagement org, and we build the NorthStar (N*) Loyalty Platform, the core system powering rewards, membership, and earn/burn experiences across Brand Expedia, , and Vrbo. Millions of travelers interact with what we ship every day, from earning points on a booking to redeeming them for their next trip.
On the tech side, we work across the full stack, building customer-facing UI with React.js and our Aerofoil/SDUI framework, and backend services in Java and Spring Boot running on AWS. We're also leaning into agentic AI tools like Claude, Codex, and Cursor to speed up how we build and ship.
It's a fast-paced, collaborative team that values ownership, curiosity, and learning by doing, and you'd get to work closely with product, design, and engineers across geographies on problems that directly move the needle for One Key and our loyalty programs.
In this role, you will:
Design, build, and enhance React-based web experiences for loyalty use cases such as messaging, coupons, and earn/burn displays, ensuring high-quality, performant, and accessible UIs for travelers.
Develop, consume, and integrate Java and Spring Boot APIs to connect front-end applications with backend loyalty platform services, including work on checkout flows and gift card experiences.
Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend engineers to translate business requirements into scalable UI components, API contracts, and data models, contributing to both low-level system design and API design.
Own end-to-end delivery of features across the stack (approximately 70% front end, 30% back end), including coding, code reviews, testing, debugging, and incremental rollout of customer-facing loyalty experiences.
Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including AI-driven smart incentives, banners, and traveler messaging across key surfaces such as home page, SRP, and PDP.
Help elevate the broader team’s front-end and full-stack capabilities by sharing best practices, pairing with engineers, and contributing reusable patterns that can be applied across multiple loyalty experience domains.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
2+ years of relevant professional experience.
Professional software development experience building web applications, including production experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Hands-on experience developing and integrating Java-based APIs using frameworks such as Spring Boot, with the ability to understand API contracts and contribute to service, API, and data model design.
Proven ability to deliver features end to end across the stack in a full-time engineering role, owning front-end implementation while contributing to backend/API integration and quality.
Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, particularly in the context of personalized customer experiences or incentives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building and optimizing complex React applications at scale, including component architecture, state management, performance tuning, and robust testing strategies.
Exposure to GraphQL or similar API paradigms for querying and aggregating data, and applying sound API design principles for experience-focused services.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement low-level system design, API contracts, and data models for customer-facing web experiences, with a focus on reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
Experience integrating or extending AI/ML‑enabled capabilities in the web layer (for example, dynamic incentives, personalized messaging, or content ranking) and safely operating these features in production.
Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development or experimentation tools (such as code assistants, feature flagging, or experimentation platforms) and using data-driven insights to refine and scale loyalty product experiences, including safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve traveler outcomes.
