Summary

Early-career SDET at Brivo in Bengaluru writing and maintaining automated API tests with Playwright and Robot Framework, converting manual checks into automation, and triaging flaky failures in CI/CD pipelines. A hands-on coding role for someone with 0-2 years' experience, Python skills, and Git basics.

We are looking for an early-career Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to help us build and maintain the automated tests that keep our products reliable. You will work alongside developers and senior SDETs to write test automation, expand our regression coverage, and investigate failures in our CI pipelines. This is a hands-on engineering role: you will spend most of your time writing code, not clicking through screens.
It is an ideal role for someone who enjoys breaking things on purpose, is comfortable in a codebase, and wants to grow into a strong quality engineer with a solid automation foundation.
  • Write, execute, and maintain automated API tests using Playwright and Robot Framework.
  • Review requirements and user stories, design and document test cases covering functional and non-functional scenarios.
  • Execute manual exploratory testing on new features where automation coverage does not yet exist, and convert repeatable checks into automated tests.
  • Triage failing tests in CI/CD pipelines, distinguish genuine product defects from flaky or environment-related failures, and escalate appropriately.
  • Log clear, well-evidenced defects with reproduction steps, logs, and screenshots, and track them through to closure.
  • Use Git for day-to-day version control- branching, pull requests, and responding to code review feedback on your test code.
  • Contribute to test data setup, environment configuration, and small automation utilities that reduce manual effort.
  • Collaborate with developers and product managers on quality risks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 0-2 years of experience in software testing, test automation, or software development
  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language - Python preferred.
  • Exposure to an automation framework such as PyTest, Playwright, or Robot Framework, through work, coursework, or personal projects.
  • Understanding of REST API concepts (HTTP methods, status codes, JSON) and familiarity with a tool such as Postman or the requests library.
  • Familiarity with Git and basic branching workflows.
  • Solid grasp of software testing fundamentals: test case design, defect lifecycle, regression testing, and the difference between functional and non-functional testing.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with clear written and verbal communication.
  • Willingness to learn quickly and take direction from senior engineers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hands-on experience with PyTest, Playwright (TypeScript or Python bindings) or Robot Framework.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Concourse, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Awareness of Agile/Scrum practices and tools such as Jira.
  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or Locust.
