Software Development Engineer, Network Monitoring and Remediation (NMR)
Key job responsibilities
- Design and build streaming data pipelines that ingest network telemetry at scale, and develop the automated remediation services that act on those signals in real time.
- Create and improve diagnostic tooling that helps network operators quickly identify and resolve the issues automation has not yet addressed.
- Participate actively in code reviews, provide constructive feedback to teammates, and mentor other engineers on writing well-documented, reliable software.
- Collaborate with network engineers, data scientists, and product partners to translate operational needs into clear system designs and working solutions.
- Identify root causes of operational issues, drive improvements to your team's technical processes, and evaluate new tools and approaches, including generative AI, to raise productivity and code quality.
A day in the life
You will start your day reviewing operational metrics and triaging any alerts from overnight deployments. From there you might write and test code for a new remediation workflow, then join a design discussion where you and your teammates sketch out approaches to an ambiguous detection problem. Later you could pair with a network engineer to validate telemetry signals or review a pull request from a newer team member. Your work blends deep technical problem-solving with regular collaboration across engineering and operations.
About the team
Network Monitoring and Remediation (NMR) prevents, predicts, detects, and remediates network impairments before they reach customers. Our systems ingest trillions of telemetry data points daily from millions of network devices, apply streaming analytics and ML/AI to surface actionable signals, and drive automated mitigation through our event management platform. Today, over 98% of detected issues are resolved without human intervention. Our vision is a future where every network failure is pre-emptively resolved by autonomous systems, with zero customer impact.
