Software Development Engineer - Test III

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) III is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software products across the full product lifecycle. This role requires advanced technical expertise, hands-on testing experience, and close collaboration with software development teams within a Linux-based environment. The SDET III designs, develops, and executes comprehensive test strategies for embedded software, with a primary focus on System on Module (SOM) platforms. Responsibilities include building and maintaining automated test frameworks, identifying and troubleshooting defects, and validating system performance and stability. This position works closely with U.S.-based engineering teams and collaborates effectively across multiple time zones to support global development activities. Strong communication skills and the ability to operate in a distributed team environment are essential. This position is based onsite at our Taiwan location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and execute end-to-end testing activities for assigned software components or projects.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and test reports based on product requirements and specifications.
  • Identify software defects, perform initial root cause analysis, and work with developers to drive issue resolution.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and system-level testing to ensure release readiness.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance test scripts, test functionality and utilities to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to ensure quality alignment and timely delivery.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Testing.
  • Proficient in GitHub usage, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
  • Strong familiarity with Python, including writing test scripts or automation tools.
  • Solid experience working in Linux environments, including command-line operations.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA best practices.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • English proficiency:
    • Listening & Speaking: Intermediate
    • Reading & Writing: Good

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required and master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., PyTest, unittest, or similar).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience testing backend systems, APIs, or system-level software.
  • Shell scripting experience is a plus.
