Software Development Head (API)

Job Summary

The Software Development Head is responsible in leading our API and middleware development team. You'll manage engineers building critical integration solutions, provide hands‑on technical leadership, and drive delivery of API‑driven platforms across our enterprise. This is a hybrid technical leadership role—you'll stay deeply involved in architecture and technology decisions while building and scaling a high‑performing team.

Job Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage a development team building APIs, middleware, and integration solutions
2. Provide hands‑on architectural guidance on API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and event‑driven architecture
3. Oversee API security implementation (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, mTLS) and regulatory compliance
4. Establish CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks
5. Conduct code and architecture reviews; drive technical excellence and quality standards
6. Mentor and develop engineers; foster a culture of continuous learning and psychological safety
7. Manage project delivery, timelines, and stakeholder communication
8. Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture teams to align development with organizational strategy

Qualifications

1. 10+ years software development experience with 5+ years leading engineering teams; 5+ years hands‑on building APIs and middleware in enterprise environments
2. Strong technical expertise in:
   • RESTful APIs, GraphQL, gRPC, and event‑driven architecture
   • API platforms (Apigee, MuleSoft, Kong, or AWS API Gateway)
   • Messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
   • API security patterns and OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect implementation
   • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
   • CI/CD tools and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
   • Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or similar languages
3. Proven ability to build, mentor, and retain high‑performing teams
4. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
