Software Development Manager, AWS Infrastructure Supply Chain

Role Overview
As an L6 Software Development Manager in AWS Infrastructure Supply Chain, you will define the strategic vision for your team, establish a roadmap, and successfully deliver software that powers one of the world's largest and most complex physical infrastructure supply chains. You will independently manage a team of SDEs building large-scale distributed systems that enable AWS to procure, manufacture, ship, and deploy hundreds of thousands of server and network racks into data centers globally across AMER, EMEA, APAC, and GOVT regions.
Strategic Ownership
Define the strategic vision for your team, partnering effectively with customers and stakeholders across the supply chain lifecycle — from demand planning and material supportability to manufacturing, logistics, and DC deployment.
Establish a roadmap and successfully deliver software that executes that vision, aligned with the end-to-end supply chain needs spanning systems like S&OP POR, RP3, Build Planner, Fulfillment Planner, and the Infrastructure Control Tower.
Make crisp, independent decisions about what projects move forward and in what priority order, balancing competing priorities across demand forecasting, capacity planning, fulfillment optimization, and observability.
Write narratives, PR/FAQs, and other strategic documentation to drive alignment and decision-making.
Technical Domain
Your team will work on one or more of the following areas:
Real-time observability platforms — powering the Infrastructure Control Tower that tracks 100K+ active demands through stage progression, dwell times, blocker reason codes, and checkpoint milestones.
AI/ML-driven forecasting — demand planning, ETA prediction, and supply-demand matching across 130+ component categories and 1,400+ Superset Fungibility Groups (SFGs).
Optimization engines — capacity planning systems that match server/network demand (converted to kW) against DC power supply at lineup, breaker, site, and meter-site levels.
Multi-agent orchestration systems — coordinating fulfillment across vendors, manufacturing sites, and DC positions in priority order (ML → Network → Non-ML).
Data pipelines — processing millions of events daily across the fulfillment pipeline from Purchase Request through to Handoff.
People Leadership
Independently manage a team of SDEs; hire the right mix of engineers to accomplish team goals.
Assess SDE performance effectively; manage both high and low performers and take effective action addressing employee concerns.
Hire, develop, and promote SDEs, delegating appropriately based on the strength and development objectives of individuals on your team.
Build an effective development process that consistently delivers software with minimal defects and system disruption.
Customer & Operational Excellence
Define metrics to measure customer experience, team development progress, and operational excellence across the supply chain systems your team owns.
Establish customer engagement mechanisms to stay connected to the needs of internal customers — service teams (EC2, S3, EBS), supply planners, manufacturing partners, and logistics operators.
Ensure your team adheres to SLAs and effectively manages software operations.
Proactively identify risks and bring them to the attention of your manager, customers, and stakeholders with mitigation plans before they become roadblocks. Know when to escalate to Senior Leaders.

Define and monitor metrics for team development progress, customer experience, and operational excellence (e.g., stage dwell times, on-track/off-track KPIs, manufacturing output trends)
Drive continuous improvement — improve software quality and operational performance metrics under your leadership
People Management & Development

Risk Management & Escalation
Proactively identify risks and bring them to the attention of your manager, customers, and stakeholders with mitigation plans before they become roadblocks
Know when to escalate to Senior Leaders — especially critical in a domain where delays in manufacturing, material shortages, or DC readiness issues can cascade across the global fleet
Ensure your team adheres to SLAs across all systems and operational commitments
