Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 2+ years of hands‑on team leadership experience
- Extensive experience with Java and Spring Boot (or similar JVM‑based frameworks)
- Hands‑on experience designing, developing, and maintaining microservices‑based architectures
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and backend architecture
- Familiarity with SOAP and XML technologies
- Hands‑on experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar messaging systems
- Experience designing scalable, distributed, and high‑performance systems
- Experience in the payments/fintech domain is a strong plus
- Experience with Unit Testing frameworks and software quality practices
- Experience with AI‑assisted development tools is a plus
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving skills
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross‑functional teams in Agile environments
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of backend engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous development
- Drive the technical direction of the team and participate in architectural decisions
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high‑performance backend services
- Oversee the development of robust backend systems and APIs
- Build and manage integrations related to payment systems and financial services
- Ensure the adoption of engineering best practices, including clean code, design principles, code reviews, and testing standards
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, QA Engineers, DevOps, and other stakeholders to deliver high‑quality solutions
- Monitor system performance, reliability, and scalability, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and guide the team in resolving production incidents
- Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and engineering standards
- Support recruitment activities by participating in technical interviews and helping grow the engineering team
- Foster a collaborative, high‑performing engineering culture while ensuring timely delivery of business objectives
