Software Engineer 1
Summary
Builds, tests, and operates secure production software for federal government customers in Annapolis Junction, MD — performing security testing, code reviews, and secure engineering designs using Java/C/C++ on Linux/Solaris with NoSQL (HBase/Accumulo), RESTful services, and Kubernetes. Requires US citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
Capabilities
- Perform on-going security testing and participate in code reviews to improve software security and features.
- Debug, design, and code new software or modify existing software.
- Provide and recommend engineering designs for new software solutions to help mitigate security vulnerabilities.
- Contribute on all levels of the architecture and maintain technical documentation.
- Collaborate with team members and exchange knowledge on secure coding practices.
- Ability to develop a familiarity with new tools and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- TS/SCI with agency appropriate poly
- Seven (7) years’ experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Required Technical Skills
- Demonstrated work experience with OpenSource (NoSQL) products such as Hbase/Accumulo, Big Table, etc.
- A minimum of six (6) years demonstrated experience out of the most recent eight (8) years developing
- production software for Solaris or Linux environments
- Six years (6) of experience developing software using the Java programming language or C or C++
- Demonstrated work experience developing RESTful services
- Demonstrated work experience in Java development
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Previous experience developing analytics applications
