Software Engineer 2
Summary
Senior application developer on the Analytic and Analyst Investigation Frameworks team, designing and deploying a scalable web application on a Kubernetes cluster for federal government customers. Day to day: Python or Java microservices, Docker/Kubernetes, data pipelines, React-style dashboards, and CI/CD. Requires active TS/SCI with polygraph.
Capabilities
- Design and build scalable, high-performance web application architectures.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Python or Java.
- Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Architect and implement data pipelines to ingest, process, and deliver data to applications.
- Create dynamic, user-friendly data visualizations and interactive dashboards using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Solid, jQuery).
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient, automated delivery.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain applications in production environments, ensuring performance and stability.
- Partner cross-functionally with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to deliver impactful solutions.
- Clearly communicate technical concepts and system designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- TS/SCI with agency appropriate poly
- 14 years of software engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or 4 additional years of relevant SWE experience in lieu of a degree).
Required Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Python or Java.
- Experience with web application development frameworks (e.g., Flask, Django, Spring Boot).
- Experience with data pipelines and data processing tools.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Desired Technical Skills
- Understanding of Kubernetes concepts including deployments, services, pods, namespaces, and resource management.
- Experience with Kubernetes operators and custom resource definitions (CRDs).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Experience with Apache Spark is a plus.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
