About the Team:
The Air Traffic Services Development (ATSD) unit
sets the requirements, architects, designs, develops, tests, deploys and
maintains New Zealand’s Air Traffic Management systems and Aeronautical
Information Management systems utilised within New Zealand airspace.
We design and maintain our own Air Traffic
Management (ATM) systems and additional supporting systems which provide
critical inputs into the ATM systems. That means we write and maintain the code
that runs our mission and safety critical systems. It requires strong attention
to detail and systematic approach to development, whilst looking to the latest
enhancements through continuous improvement.
About the Role:
We’re
expanding our Aeronautical Databases and Messaging Systems
(ADAMS) software engineering team
with an opportunity for an additional Software Engineer to join us on a
permanent full-time basis at our Christchurch campus.
In the role
you’ll architect, design, develop, test, document, deploy, maintain and support
the real-time critical systems which the ADAMS software team are responsible
for. These include web-based systems and a mobile application.

About You:
This role is
best suited for a driven, proactive software engineer who enjoys complex
problem solving, working as a team and some office banter.
To be considered, you will hold:
- An honours or master’s degree in computer science or software engineering. Alternatively, a numerical degree with demonstratable equivalent experience
- At least two years’ experience working in a software development team with a structured development environment
- Expertise in Java and equivalent languages
- Expertise in SQL-based databases (e.g. Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server)
- A proven record of efficiently and productively producing high-quality designs, code and documentation
- Ability
to work in a dynamic business, collaborate with people, show resilience and
agility, take ownership and focus on delivering successful outcomes.
Beneficial:
- Experience in the use of JavaScript frameworks e.g. Angular
- Experience in development of web-based applications, APIs and related areas
- Experience in real-time, safety critical systems.
