Software Engineer, AI & Data Systems

Summary

Builds and owns AI agent systems, data pipelines, and platform infrastructure for a seed-stage AI/people-data company, collaborating directly with founders and customers to deliver scalable, reliable products.

About the Role

Join a small, fast-moving team building core platform capabilities and customer-facing products at a seed-stage people data and AI company. You'll work across backend, data infrastructure, and AI agent systems — taking ambiguous problems end-to-end from architecture through production ownership. This is a high-ownership role with direct exposure to founders and customers.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship customer-facing products and platform capabilities across backend, data, infrastructure, and frontend surfaces.

  • Design and operate high-volume data pipelines and services at massive scale with strong reliability, security, and observability.

  • Build AI agents, agent harnesses, and developer tools — then own them reliably in production at large scale.

  • Make architecture decisions, explain tradeoffs, and iterate designs as assumptions evolve.

  • Work directly with founders and customers to turn vague requests into clear product decisions and working software.

  • Apply modern AI development tools aggressively while maintaining strong engineering judgment and accountability.

What We're Looking For

  • 1–6 years of software engineering experience, with at least one production system owned end-to-end from concept through deployment and operations.

  • Strong backend coding skills: APIs, data models, and distributed systems.

  • Experience at an early-stage startup (seed through Series A/B) shipping across both product and infrastructure.

  • Hands-on experience building and operating high-volume data pipelines.

  • Strong CS fundamentals, ideally from a rigorous academic background.

  • Experience with AI-native development: LLMs, agent frameworks, or similar.

  • Familiarity with identity resolution, data matching, or enrichment systems at scale is a plus.

  • Available to start by mid-September 2026 for an on-site residency program.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $200,000 – $280,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

On-site in San Francisco, CA, USA. This is a full-time, in-office role.
