Software Engineer – AI
Gigalogy is looking for a highly capable Software Engineer – AI to help build and advance Maira-2, our flagship model focused on delivering high accuracy at significantly lower cost. This role is ideal for someone who has strong hands-on experience with Generative AI, including evaluating foundation models, benchmarking performance, fine-tuning models, and applying them to real-world product and business problems.
You will work closely with our CEO and core technical team to shape model strategy, experiment with new approaches, and help bring efficient, production-ready AI capabilities into our platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with the CEO on the development and improvement of Maira-2, Gigalogy’s flagship AI model.
- Research, evaluate, and apply Generative AI models across a variety of use cases.
- Run benchmarks across different LLMs and generative models to compare quality, latency, cost, and reliability.
- Design and execute fine-tuning workflows to improve model performance for target tasks and domains.
- Build experimentation frameworks for testing prompts, model architectures, datasets, and inference strategies.
- Optimize models and pipelines for accuracy, efficiency, and lower operational cost.
- Analyze model outputs and identify opportunities to improve precision, consistency, and scalability.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership teams to translate business needs into AI solutions.
- Stay current with the latest developments in LLMs, multimodal models, fine-tuning methods, evaluation frameworks, and model optimization techniques.
- Support deployment of models into production environments with attention to performance, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 1 year of hands-on experience in AI and machine learning.
- Strong understanding of Generative AI, including large language models, transformer architectures, embeddings, prompting, retrieval, and fine-tuning methods.
- Hands-on experience applying foundation models such as OpenAI, open-source LLMs, or other generative AI systems.
- Experience running benchmarks and evaluations across multiple models using defined metrics.
- Practical knowledge of fine-tuning, instruction tuning, parameter-efficient tuning, or related techniques.
- Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with modern ML/AI frameworks.
- Experience with tools and libraries such as PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain/LlamaIndex, vector databases, and model evaluation frameworks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and independently drive experiments from concept to conclusion.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or optimizing cost-efficient AI systems for production use.
- Familiarity with inference optimization, quantization, distillation, caching, or model compression techniques.
- Experience with RAG systems, data pipelines, and evaluation of retrieval quality.
- Exposure to GPU-based training/inference workflows and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience working in startups or highly iterative product environments.
- Understanding of trade-offs between model quality, latency, and cost.
What Success Looks Like
- You help advance Maira-2 into a model that delivers strong performance with superior cost efficiency.
- You create reliable benchmarking processes that guide model and architecture decisions.
- You identify practical ways to improve output quality while reducing inference and training costs.
- You contribute directly to turning AI research and experimentation into scalable product capabilities.
