About the Role

At Akakçe, we operate web and mobile platforms used by millions of users. Behind those

products sits a second set of systems that our engineers depend on every day: build and

release pipelines, internal services and shared libraries, environment and data tooling, and

the dashboards teams use to understand how their systems behave.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to build and improve those systems. The people

who use your work are other engineers, and the goal is straightforward: make it faster and

safer for our backend, web, and mobile teams to ship.

We are open to engineers at different stages of their career, including those early in it. We

care far more about how you think about problems than about how many years you have

worked or how many tools you have used. If you are early in your career, you will work

alongside senior engineers who will review your code and help you grow.

What You Will Do

  • Build and improve internal tools, services, and shared libraries used across backend, web, and mobile teams.
  • Design and maintain build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and release workflows.
  • Automate engineering work that is currently manual, slow, or error-prone.
  • Improve developer environments, configuration, and consistency between local and production behavior.
  • Build reporting and observability tools that show teams how their systems are actually behaving.
  • Investigate failures across pipelines, environments, and services, and fix root causes rather than symptoms.
  • Improve existing systems incrementally, without unnecessary rewrites.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
  • Take ownership of what you build after it ships.

What We Look For

We hire for engineering ability, not for a list of tools. We would like to talk to you if:

  • You can explain a design decision you made, and what you gave up by making it.
  • You have improved code you did not write, step by step, without rewriting it.
  • You can read an error or a stack trace and form a hypothesis before you change anything.
  • You can say why an abstraction you built was worth its cost — or admit one that was not.
  • You can choose between a list, a map, and a set for a real problem, and explain what each choice costs.
  • You can describe how a request travels from a client to a server and back, and what can go wrong on the way.
  • You write code another engineer can read, change, and test six months from now.
  • You explain your reasoning clearly, and you change your mind when the evidence says you should.

  • Relational databases and SQL

  • Linux and command-line tools

Nice to Have

  • Projects, internal tools, or open-source work you can walk us through and explain.
  • Experience with high-traffic systems.
  • Experience improving systems that were already running in production.
  • Experience turning a slow or unreliable process into a fast and dependable one.
  • A computer science or related engineering background, or equivalent self-taught depth in fundamentals.

How We Interview

Our process is built around fundamentals and problem solving rather than framework trivia.

Expect a practical coding exercise and a technical conversation about design decisions, trade-offs, and how you debug real problems. We will ask you to explain your reasoning, and we will follow up on your answers. If you are early in your career, we are looking at how you think, not at how much you already know.
