Software Engineer - Analyst Team
Summary
Software Engineer on an Agile Scrum team supporting the C2BMC missile defense program, analyzing real-world Missile Defense and Space Domain Awareness data and developing or refining algorithms (e.g., in MATLAB) to predict ballistic missile threat states. Onsite in Colorado Springs, CO; requires an active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Analyze real world data about Missile Defense and Space Domain Awareness
- As part of an Agile Scrum team, develop and complete features and stories mapped to program objectives
- Depending on the specific skills of the successful applicant, duties will include one or more of the following: - Collect and interpret real world data- Develop new algorithms to utilize the data effectively- Actively update current algorithms based on new data.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
- DoD Final Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance at start.
- The ideal candidate shall possess a strong analytical background, encompassing a broad range of disciplines that enable effective data filtering to predict future states of ballistic missile threats.
- This background should include experience in performance analysis and characterization of large-scale, complex system simulations, with a focus on ballistic missile threats, weapon systems, and command-and-control architectures.
- Knowledge of system engineering principles and practices is also required, including system design, development, testing, and evaluation, as applied to ballistic missile systems and associated command-and-control systems.
- The candidate should also possess a working or theoretical knowledge of ballistic or non-ballistic missile defense concepts, including Battle Management and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, defense communication systems, and the Missile Defense System (MDS).
- A strong foundation in math and physics is required, as is experience with tools such as MATLAB to support the analysis of complex data.
- Mission-Driven Professional: Collaborative contributor motivated by the opportunity to develop cutting-edge solutions that protect and serve both the nation and the world.
- The candidate should possess data analytics skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and filter large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform predictions of future ballistic missile threat states.
- Furthermore, the candidate should have experience in analyzing and characterizing ballistic missile threats, including threat systems, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and the ability to predict future threat states based on trends and patterns.
- Overall, the candidate should demonstrate a deep understanding of the technical disciplines that underpin ballistic missile threat analysis and prediction, including the ability to integrate and analyze data from diverse sources to inform predictive models and simulations.
- Specific knowledge of one or more MDS elements, such as C2BMC, AN/TPY-2, LRDR, BOA, SBIRS, GMB, Aegis BMD, and PATRIOT, is highly desirable.
- Additionally, familiarity with operating systems such as Unix/Linux and experience with Agile Scrum and continuous integration methodologies are desirable.
- Experience with scenario generation is also a plus, demonstrating the ability to create realistic and relevant scenarios to support analysis and testing of missile defense systems.
