Job Description

Position Title: Senior Engineer AOSP

Skills: AOSP + Android Framework + Embedded Systems

Experience: 5 to 8 Years

Work Location: Hyderabad & Ahmedabad

What You'll Be Doing

Principal Accountabilities:

• Develop, customize, and maintain AOSP for embedded platforms and custom hardware boards.
• Analyze technical requirements and implement software modifications based on customer and system requirements.
• Participate in high-level and low-level software requirements analysis and design.
• Develop and customize Android Framework, system services, vendor services, and native applications.
• Perform Android platform porting, device customization, and hardware-software integration.
• Develop and integrate vendor-specific HAL modules using HIDL, AIDL, and JNI for Camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, sensors, and battery.
• Customize Android UI and backend services as per device requirements.
• Perform unit, functional, integration, and system-level testing.
• Conduct code reviews, static code analysis, and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex software and hardware integration issues.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design documents, test cases, test reports, and release notes.
• Follow defined Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.
• Develop solutions using C/C++, Java/Kotlin, and Shell scripting.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to junior engineers.

Job Complexity:

• Drive technical implementation of AOSP development, Android Framework customization, and platform integration.
• Work independently under broad supervision to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Handle complex design concepts and implementation across Android platform layers.
• Analyze problems and implement effective solutions using established engineering practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful hardware-software integration.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
• Work with limited guidance and direction.

What Are We Looking For

• 5 to 8 years of experience in AOSP development, Android Framework, and embedded software development.
• Strong knowledge of AOSP build systems, AOSP workflow, and native application development.
• Hands-on experience with Android Framework, system/vendor services, JNI, AIDL, and SELinux (SEPolicy).
• Experience with Android HIDL and HAL integration for Camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, sensors, and battery.
• Strong experience in Android platform porting, device customization, UI, and backend services.
• Experience with embedded platforms from Qualcomm, TI, NXP, NVIDIA, Intel, or similar vendors.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, Java/Kotlin, and Shell scripting.
• Experience with Git, SVN, JIRA, Android Studio, and related development tools.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent ownership, communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.

Education

B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
