Appfire is seeking a software engineer to join their Vikings team to develop and maintain enterprise-class Jira-related products. The role involves full-stack development using Java, Spring Boot, and modern frontend frameworks like Vue.js or React, with a focus on system design and performance.

About the role:

Join Vikings, an engineering team with cross-product impact at Appfire. You’ll work on enterprise-class products such as Power BI Connector, Tableau Connector, Reports & Timesheets for Jira, Clone Plus, and Chat for JSM products used by enterprise customers worldwide. You’ll solve challenges related to performance, reliability, data residency, and cross-region migration. Expect a mix of greenfield product development, feature delivery, and L3 support escalations across Java/Spring backends and modern frontends. This is an individual contributor (IC) role with mentoring expectations, a strong focus on system design, and direct impact on how teams turn Jira data into business insights.

What you’ll do:

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, scalable Java/Spring Boot applications and Vue.js/React frontends.
  • Participate in a self-organizing product team alongside Product Management, UX, Platform, DevOps, and Support.
  • Conduct feasibility analysis, project planning, and work estimation for yourself and the team.
  • Follow and promote engineering best practices, including automated testing, code reviews, pair programming, and documentation.
  • Decompose complex problems into well-defined, realistically estimable tasks.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural decisions related to performance, quality, and security.
  • Provide open and constructive input on product direction and customer needs.
  • Collaborate in an Agile environment with autonomy over your day-to-day work.

What you’ll need:

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Spring, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Vue.js or React.
  • Practical experience with cloud architectures on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, including L3 escalations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to switch between roadmap work and maintenance.
  • Deep understanding of web application architecture, performance, quality, and security.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and cross-product teams.
  • Fluent verbal and written English.
