Context
As part of the modernization of critical Air Traffic Management systems, we are looking for an experienced Software Engineer – ATM Surveillance Data Processing.
You will join a specialized engineering team working on surveillance data processing systems and contribute to the transformation of a large legacy platform into a modern service-oriented architecture.
The position operates within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment, with strong requirements regarding quality, reliability, performance and traceability.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the modernization and service decomposition of a critical legacy system within an ATM surveillance processing chain.
- Design, develop and maintain high-availability back-end applications using Java.
- Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices.
- Define and implement automated testing strategies using Java and Cucumber.
- Analyze operational and user needs and translate them into software requirements and technical solutions.
- Produce and maintain engineering documentation, including system/software requirements, design descriptions, test specifications and traceability documentation.
- Participate in Verification & Validation (V&V) activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to test planning, execution and reporting, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Support certification, compliance and quality assurance activities related to safety-critical systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives regarding engineering processes, automation, quality and compliance.
Profile
- Engineering degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Aeronautics, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience developing complex software systems.
- Previous experience in a regulated and/or safety-critical environment.
- Experience with requirements engineering, Verification & Validation and software lifecycle documentation.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring and Maven.
- Good knowledge of Linux environments, networking and distributed systems.
- Experience with Netty, messaging systems or low-level network communication is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with software quality standards and engineering processes is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate operational requirements into robust software solutions.
- Autonomous, proactive and quality-driven mindset.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Languages
- Fluent English – minimum C1 level, written and spoken.
- French and/or German is an asset.
