About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to develop, support and continuously improve machine-control software used in advanced automation and semiconductor equipment.
The successful candidate will work closely with Electrical, Mechanical and Applications teams to develop new software functions, integrate hardware and software components, troubleshoot equipment issues and improve overall machine performance and usability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance software for automated equipment and machine-control applications.
- Provide software support and continuous improvement for existing equipment platforms.
- Develop new software functions based on equipment, project and customer requirements.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot software-related issues encountered during machine integration, commissioning and field operation.
- Review and maintain software requirements, technical documentation and operating procedures.
- Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical and Applications teams to integrate new hardware and software functionality.
- Support the integration of motion-control, machine-vision and other equipment subsystems.
- Develop and improve software tools and utilities that simplify machine setup, diagnostics and operation.
- Participate in equipment testing, debugging, verification and continuous improvement activities.
- Support technical investigation and root-cause analysis for equipment software issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ within a Windows environment.
- Experience in PC-based control software development.
- Understanding of object-oriented software design and development methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of real-time control systems and database technologies.
- Experience developing software for industrial automation, semiconductor equipment, precision machinery or similar systems would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of machine-vision systems, motion control or equipment communication standards such as SECS/GEM would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Technical Exposure
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
- Semiconductor or advanced packaging equipment
- Machine automation and control
- Motion-control systems
- Machine-vision systems
- Real-time control systems
- SECS/GEM
- Industrial equipment integration
- C/C++ machine-control applications
