Software Engineer- Automation Tester
Salary: RM 8,000 – RM 10,000 per month
About the role
This is a software testing role focused on developing and maintaining comprehensive test plans, designing scalable test automation frameworks, and performing various types of testing including functional, performance, load, and security testing. You will integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines, analyze automation results, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to establish effective testing strategies and standards.
Key responsibilities
Develop and maintain test plans and test cases for both automated and manual testing activities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks and reusable automation components
Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid feedback
Analyze automation results, identify testing trends, and continuously improve test coverage and effectiveness
Perform various types of manual testing, including functional, smoke, regression, and integration testing
Plan and execute performance, load, and security testing as required
Identify, document, track, and follow up on defects using defect management tools
Gain an end-to-end understanding of the system and conduct risk assessments for proposed software changes
Work closely with Project/Product Managers, Product Owners, Developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and establish effective testing strategies
Support the development team in investigating production issues and efficient defect resolution
About you
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
Minimum 4 years of experience in software and/or web application testing
Minimum 3 years of experience developing automated tests for web applications using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript
Hands-on experience in API testing and REST service validation
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps
Experience with Git/version control systems
Strong understanding of test automation architecture, design, and best practices
Experience performing functional, performance, load, and security testing
Proficiency in SQL for application data querying and validation
Experience working within an Agile environment, such as Scrum or Kanban
