Software Engineer, Backend (3-5 years)
Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing and building robust, highly scalable distributed systems. You will collaborate closely with product leadership, mentor junior team members, and take immense ownership of complex technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture & Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable web-based applications. Create architectural abstractions and technical contracts with a strict adherence to the separation of concerns.
Problem Solving & High-Level Design: Drive solutions for high-level business and technical problems. Lead functional modeling, module decomposition, and system design initiatives.
Architectural Evolution: Implement incremental changes to the existing architecture and conduct comprehensive impact analyses.
Performance Optimization: Profile, tune, and improve performance across large-scale distributed systems.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with Product Managers to translate business features into technical capabilities. Lead the execution of medium-sized projects and structure workflows into distinct phases to ensure predictable delivery.
Stakeholder Alignment: Work with broader stakeholders to track the impact of deployed projects and features, proactively iterating on them for continuous improvement.
Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, foster a collaborative team culture, and promote engineering excellence.
Required Qualifications
Education: B.Tech, M.Tech, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of solving problems at scale.
Programming Expertise: Extensive experience in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Java, C, C++). Exceptional coding skills with the ability to fluently translate design into maintainable, scalable, and unit-tested code.
Concurrency: Strong hands-on experience with multi-threading and concurrent programming.
System Design: Deep expertise in Object-Oriented Design (OOD), design patterns, and building intuitive module and class-level interfaces.
Scale & Data Management: Proven experience building highly scalable business applications, handling complex business flows, and processing massive volumes of data.
Database Proficiency: Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL) as well as NoSQL technologies (e.g., HBase, Elasticsearch, Aerospike).
Engineering Best Practices: Strong knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and experience with the full software development life cycle (SDLC) on a Linux platform.
Working Environment: Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-growth, dynamic startup environment with high levels of ownership and commitment.
Drive & Passion: A strong analytical mindset with a genuine passion for solving complex, real-world technical challenges.
