Software Engineer (Backend & Integrations, TypeScript)
Summary
Backend engineer on Neurotrack's API platform: building TypeScript REST APIs on AWS Lambda and DynamoDB, with a first focus on customer healthcare integrations (SFTP, HL7, Partner API) scoped with Customer Success and taken through go-live, plus CI/CD in GitHub Actions, Datadog monitoring, and spec-driven development with Claude.
Software Engineer (Backend & Integrations, TypeScript)
Role Overview
At Neurotrack, our mission is to transform the diagnosis and prevention of Alzheimer’s and related diseases by giving people direct access to the most effective, most broadly available, scientifically validated digital assessments and therapeutics to prevent cognitive decline.
You’ll be a backend engineer on our API platform, working closely with our Director of Engineering. We run several REST APIs on serverless AWS Lambda, backed by DynamoDB, all written in TypeScript. You’ll help us build them, run them, and keep them healthy, and you’ll give the team real depth on the systems our products depend on.
We also run a rich portfolio of integrations with our healthcare customers: SFTP file exchange on AWS, HL7 interfaces, and our Partner API. Integrations will be your first focus. You’ll learn each of these approaches in detail: the steps, the options, and the trade-offs. Then you’ll work hand in hand with our Customer Success team and with customers’ technical teams to pick and refine the right approach, build it, test it, and see it through to go-live.
How We Work
- Fast and together. We live in Slack. We help each other throughout the day, keep each other unblocked, and regularly surprise ourselves with how fast we can go.
- AI-native. We practice spec-driven development and use Claude for much of the execution, with humans in the loop at all the right steps.
- Quality and privacy first. Our product is Software as a Medical Device, and we operate under a Quality Management System. Our commitment to quality, privacy, and the people we serve shapes how we build.
Key Responsibilities:
APIs & Platform
- Design, build, and extend features across our TypeScript REST APIs on AWS Lambda and DynamoDB.
- Design and document APIs with OpenAPI so they’re reusable across current and future products.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions.
- Instrument and monitor services with Datadog, and help triage, diagnose, and fix production issues.
Customer Integrations
- Own customer integrations end to end: scope them with Customer Success and the customer, configure or implement them, test them, and take them live.
AI-Supported Development
- Write specs, collaborate with Claude to execute them, and review the results with care.
- Keep work and knowledge current in Jira and Confluence.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 5+ years as a software developer, with significant backend API experience.
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js.
- Hands-on AWS experience; Lambda, DynamoDB, and serverless architectures are a strong plus.
- Experience with GitHub Actions and with designing APIs using OpenAPI.
- Comfort working directly with customers and partners on technical integrations.
- Solid grounding in software design: clean architecture, domain-driven design, design patterns.
- Experience using AI coding tools in your day-to-day work, or real eagerness to work that way.
- A focus on quality and collaboration, and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred:
- Healthcare integration experience (HL7, FHIR, SFTP-based data exchange).
- Experience with Auth0 and Datadog.
- Experience in a regulated environment (medical device, HIPAA, ISO 13485, or similar).
