Software Engineer, Backend
Summary
Junior backend engineer (0-5 yrs) in New Delhi building and testing APIs that turn device, identity and session signals into fraud trust scores, rules and reason codes for a security/fraud-prevention product, using Python/Go/Rust, REST, SQL, Git and Linux under senior guidance.
The role
Help build and extend Our backend roadmap, turning identity, device and session signals into trust
scores, actions and clear reasons, with guidance from senior engineers.
Day-to-day work
- Build API endpoints and validate incoming device, identity and session events; handle missing or
malformed fields and keep signal records consistent for downstream scoring. Follow contracts agreed
with senior engineers.
- Implement and test guided fraud rules, such as new-device checks and unusual activity velocity; return
reason codes that explain why a rule affected the decision.
- Extend signed SDK and business APIs with senior guidance, adding request validation and access checks
while keeping each customer's data isolated across requests and sessions.
- Reproduce SDK integration errors using sample requests, logs and metrics; work with SDK engineers to
resolve event-format mismatches and document the expected API behaviour.
- Write unit tests for valid, invalid and boundary cases, participate in code reviews, and follow fixes through
testing and release monitoring with the team.
What you bring
- Working knowledge of Python, Go or Rust, plus HTTP, REST, JSON and basic SQL.
- Data structures and algorithms fundamentals, with readable code and practical debugging skills.
- Comfort with Git, Linux and learning through feedback in code reviews.
- Interest in security and fraud prevention; curiosity about how attackers abuse systems.
- Proficiency with agentic AI coding tools, with the ability to review, test and take ownership of generated
code.
Good to have
Exposure to PostgreSQL, Redis, queues, Docker or request signing; a backend project, open-source
contribution or CTF experience you can explain.
