Software Engineer
Summary
Full-time, in-person software engineer role in downtown Toronto building and scaling core products across the full stack. Day-to-day involves backend services and APIs in Python and Node.js with MySQL, plus code reviews, debugging/performance tuning, and CI/CD via GitHub.
We’re seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our growing development team. You'll work on building and scaling our core products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that impact thousands of users. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications and services using modern frameworks and languages.
- Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality standards.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and deliver features.
- Build and optimize APIs, backend services, and user-facing features across the full stack.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance and database queries.
- Contribute to system architecture and technical design discussions.
- Utilize version control (GitHub) and maintain CI/CD best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Solid experience with MySQL database design and optimization.
- Proficiency in Python for backend services and scripting.
- Experience with Node.js for building APIs and backend services.
- Familiarity with GitHub for version control and collaborative development.
- Understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Ability to write clear documentation and communicate complex technical concepts.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with Java for backend development.
- Knowledge of C#/.NET framework and development practices.
- Experience with Docker and containerization technologies.
- Familiarity with Linux and command-line tools.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience with automated testing frameworks.
