Software Engineer - C++

Summary

Develops C++ software for maritime military systems, following strict lifecycle and quality standards like ISO 9001 and TickITplus.

Salary: £36,000 - 76,000 per year

Requirements:
  • SC Clearance required (or eligibility to gain it before starting)
  • Understanding of military systems, particularly maritime systems
  • Experience with Software Engineering Lifecycle processes and tools
  • Familiarity with Open Systems Architectures and Principles
  • Ability to solve complex problems and critically review results and methods
  • Awareness of ISO 9001 and TickITplus standards
  • Understanding of software configuration management
  • Strong communication skills for expert and non-expert stakeholders
  • Proven ability in Defence, Maritime, or Rail industry
  • Primary software skills in C++ / Visual Studio
  • Experience with UML / Enterprise Architect for system design
  • Desirable skills: Sonar processing, Intel Threaded Building Blocks, Fortran, Signal Processing, Object Oriented Design, Algorithm optimisation/implementation
Responsibilities:
  • Apply a software engineering approach throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Engage with and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Solve complex problems and ensure quality through critical review of methods
  • Manage software configuration and adhere to relevant standards
  • Contribute to design efforts using UML and Enterprise Architect
