Join a global provider of advanced test equipment and instruments serving the optical and semiconductor industries. We are seeking an experienced C# Software Engineer to develop control software for high-end semiconductor test equipment, including optical and high-speed communication testing systems.
This role combines software engineering, hardware integration and precision equipment applications. You will work closely with hardware engineers to develop, integrate and optimise equipment control systems, while supporting deployment and troubleshooting at customer sites worldwide.
This position is best suited to an engineer with strong C# development expertise and hands-on experience in semiconductor equipment, industrial automation or precision instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Software Design & Development
Design software architecture, develop core modules and build equipment control software and graphical user interfaces using C# and .NET.
Develop device control logic, data processing functions and communication interfaces for high-performance test equipment.
Build responsive desktop applications using WinForms or WPF.
2. Hardware Integration & Equipment Control
Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate and debug motion control systems, machine vision equipment, sensors, cameras and I/O modules.
Develop and integrate hardware drivers and communication interfaces using serial communication, TCP/IP and other industrial protocols.
Support equipment operation, application development and system commissioning.
3. System Performance & Reliability
Optimise software performance to meet real-time processing and high-throughput requirements.
Troubleshoot complex multithreading, memory management, hardware integration and system stability issues.
Implement sound software design practices, testing and version control to maintain code quality and reliability.
4. Product Lifecycle & Customer Support
Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through development, testing, deployment and commissioning.
Prepare technical documentation, including software design specifications, interface documentation and user manuals.
Lead software deployment, integration and commissioning at customer sites worldwide.
Provide advanced technical troubleshooting and resolve complex equipment software issues on-site.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
More than 5 years of commercial software development experience using C#, with at least 3 years in precision equipment, semiconductor equipment, industrial automation, instrumentation or a related field.
Strong proficiency in C# and .NET, including .NET Framework and modern .NET platforms.
Hands-on experience developing equipment control software and integrating software with physical hardware.
Proficiency in WinForms or WPF for desktop application development.
Practical knowledge of multithreading, asynchronous programming, memory management, object-oriented design and software design patterns.
Experience with industrial communication protocols such as serial communication and TCP/IP.
Familiarity with motion control systems and machine vision integration.
Proficiency in Git or other version control tools.
Willingness to travel internationally for customer-site deployment, commissioning and troubleshooting.
Willingness to travel to China periodically for training during the first 2–3 months of employment.
Advantageous Skills
Experience in semiconductor test equipment, optoelectronic device manufacturing, optical testing, silicon photonics or advanced packaging.
Exposure to Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) or high-speed communication testing equipment.
Knowledge of C++ or C++/CLI, SQL Server, MySQL, WCF or gRPC.
Experience with motion control platforms such as ACS, Leadshine or GoogolTech.
Familiarity with machine vision tools such as Cognex, HALCON or OpenCV.
Experience in equipment commissioning, customer-site technical support or application engineering.
Language Requirement: Proficiency in Chinese is required for work-related communication and training in China.
